  • Each weapon type has a variety of attacks depending on things like which direction button you're pressing, whether you're holding down the attack button (possibly together with a direction button), or if you're sprinting (by pressing left or right twice). There's also some variation between weapons of the same type, like between light and heavy spears.
  • Some weapon passives and abilities require combinations or multiples of specific weapon upgrade materials, though in-game info about these combinations are few and far between. Many skills also have limitations on which kinds of weapons they can be applied to.
  • Once your smithing skill with a weapon type reaches high enough level, you'll unlock the ability to pass on the abilities from a previous weapon of the same type to the next one via its mold, so any rare materials that hold useful abilities are best saved until then.
  • As usual, breaking the weapons of humanoid bosses nets you the crafting material it was made from, but most bosses now carry two weapons which makes this much more difficult than in the previous games. There is an upgrade item (Destruction Switch) that gives a weapon a duration-damaging skill which makes the task easier, but as mentioned above, you won't be able to pass it on to newer weapons until later.
  • Most quests only last for the current "day", the change of days being dictated by main story advancement, so make sure to do any you're interested in before advancing too far. Most quests are received from talking to townspeople, and in general it's a good idea to visit everyone each day.
  • Money is very hard to come by naturally, your main source will be selling weapons you've made once you're able to buy extra weapon molds. Just don't sell your main ones by accident, since they accumulate bonus stats over time.
  • The quality (and thus points) of the fish you catch is determined by your fishing pole, bait, distance, and how quickly you press the button when the floater goes underwater. The combination of maximum distance and pressing the button immediately is the only way to catch the most lucrative fish.
  • Make sure you don't forget to unlock the fast travel point located near each major town by hitting the purple platform with your hammer.
